Fiber of the Week - March 11, 2009

This week's fiber of the week is a new favorite of mine. It's Aussi Sock yarn by Oasis, and I just used it for a project for a child's hat with straps. I was requested to make it in a machine washable yarn in vivid colors, so I picked the selection shown above called "Spanish Fiesta." This yarn comes in a remarkably large skein - 400 yards - so if you're a sock knitter, you'll easily get a pair of socks from one skein. But as I found out, sock yarn isn't just for socks any more. At 20% off the usual retail of $12, you can't go wrong.

The specs:

400 yds

100g skein

90% super wash Aussi merino 10% nylon,

7-8 sts/inch on #1-3 needle

As always, if the color you want is not available, Rob will immediately order it for you. This yarn will be on sale until midday March 18. Which reminds me - happy St. Patrick's Day!
