Special Guest Appearance from Former FOW

Remember the fiber of the week from December 23? It was Woolly Stripes by Nashua. Your blogger bought 2 skeins of Citrus and 2 skeins of Dark Fuschia and made the famous Noro Striped Scarf. Am so pleased with the result of combining 2 self-striping yarns that I had one of my friends take a photo of it at work today.

A gentleman named Jared Flood wrote up this pattern which I found for free on Ravelry. Over 5400 of these scarves have been finished by Ravelers. I find fascinating the different yarns they use: Noro Kureyon, Noro Silk Garden, Noro Taiyo, Noro Iro, the aforementioned Wooly Stripes, and many self-striping sock yarns.

Fiber of the Week - February 10 and 17, 2010

Sock yarn! Sock yarn! Sale extended one more week! Who doesn't love sock yarn? We have two sock yarns for you this week. One is self-striping - that's
Supersocke Sortierung 100 by On Line and the other is Supersocke Sortierung 103 by On Line. The Sortierung 100 is a self-striper and the Sortierung 103 is a self-fair isle yarn. Talk about doing all the hard work for you! Please note - these are sport weight yarns, so if you make socks, they will be a little heavier, but will also work up that much faster. The yarn also contains jojoba and aloe vera, making for a softer yarn to be comfy next to the skin. Great yarn to be worn next to the body, so don't just think of this as a sock yarn, it's a very nice all-purpose, machine-washable sport weight. All this for 30% off this week!
The specs:
