Fiber of the Week - Dec. 23

First of all, a very happy holidays to all our Coveted Yarn customers and friends. Two messages for you this week. The first is about the fiber of the week. It's Wooly Stripes by Nashua. Rob knows by now I'm a fool for self-striping yarn, and this one is terrific. It's a worsted weight that is great for just straight knitting, crocheting and felting. If you're a novice at any of these, take it from me, a self-striping yarn will make you look like a genius. If you're on Ravelry, please take a moment to look at some of the projects made with this yarn; you may find them as motivational as I did. Available in 17 inspiring colorways, this yarn will be 25% off until Wednesday, December 30.
The specs:
Content: 100% Wool
Size: 50g/1.75oz
Yardage: 88 yards/80 meters
Needle Size: US 8 – 9/5 – 5.5 mm
Gauge: 16-18 sts and 20-22 rows = 4"
Yarn Weight:4 - Medium

And now for message #2: usually bored on New Year's Day? Not into watching football or nursing a hangover? Head on down to Coveted Yarn (the shop) for an all day baby hat knit-and-crochet-a-thon. Comfy couch, usually lots of candy, fun people, and a nice charity activity to start off the year. Here's the info on the baby hat project:
NEWBORN KNIT CROCHET HAT CONTEST: Donate a knit or crocheted hat to the cause and each hat entered will be counted as an entry into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to our website: http://www.covetedyarn.com/ All hats will be donated to the Beverly Hospital to be given to newborns. There is no limit on the number of hats you can send in. We are running this contest quarterly. All hats should be sent to: Coveted Yarn PO BOX 6015 Gloucester, MA 01930 (or if you're in the shop, just hand them to Rob!) Please include contact info so we can let you know if you win!! (if you include your e-mail we can include you in mini sales we run for entrants) Thanks again. As always any questions can be directed to info@covetedyarn.com.

And finally, your blogger would like to borrow the words of Irving Berlin for my wish for you:
"May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmases be white."

Fiber of the Week - Dec. 9, 2009

This week's fiber of the week is a stunner. It's Mooi by Louet, a company well-known for quality yarn. This lace weight is one of the softest yarns I've ever felt - just like a cloud. At 20% off, this is a rare opportunity to get a discount on this luxury yarn. Isn't it time you bought a Christmas present for yourself?

350 yards

3.0mm to 3.5mm needles (2-4 US)
