Gloucester's Sidewalk Bazaar and Coveted Yarn's Baby Hat Contest

We have 4 hats so far for this quarter's contest and we have promises of more to come.

We won't get pictures up until next week because we are very busy getting ready for the Sidewalk Bazaar in Gloucester this Thurs, Fri, and Sat from 9am to 5pm. We will be set up in front of the Kid's Closet on Main St. in Gloucester MA so please come and visit! There will be a great sale on Schaefer's Anne Sock Yarn too! We will have only handpainted yarns this year but we have a lot of them, over 50 skeins of Anne alone. The booth will also have children's tie dye from Gloucester Tie Dye so it should be a lot of fun.

NEWBORN KNIT CROCHET HAT CONTEST: Donate a knit or crocheted hat to the cause and each hat entered will be counted as an entry into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to our website: http://www.covetedyarn.com/ All hats will be donated to the Beverly Hospital to be given to newborns. There is no limit on the number of hats you can send in. To be eligible all hats must be received by end of day on September 30. If you are running a little behind schedule don't worry as we are running this contest quarterly.All hats should be sent to:

Fiber of the Week - July 30

Time for a new fiber of the week for 20% off. It's from Sublime Yarns, a new luxury fiber line created by Sirdar. I've chosen the Organic Cotton that comes in eight beautifully subtle colors. Here's what their website says about this yarn: "Sublime organic cotton is entirely natural and untreated - it has been grown organically without the use of pesticides and gently dyed using environmentally friendly products. "

Fiber of the Week Sale - July 23

Maureen here with the fiber of the week, starting July 23. In honor of Araucania becoming one of the Coveted Yarns, this week it's Ranco Sock Yarn that will be 20% off. This Chilean yarn comes in 40 colorways. The yarn is kettle dyed, so no two skeins will be exactly alike; Araucania recommends that you alternate skeins while knitting. However, dangerous knitters just keep going to see what happens. Your choice, depending on your own taste. The specs:

• Fiber: 75% Wool, 25% Nylon

• Needle size: 3

Hi, everybody. Maureen here with the 20% off fiber of the week.

This week it's Schaefer Yarn Company's Susan. I picked it because it's cotton, it's gorgeous, and it's from my homeland of upstate New York. Here are the stats:

• 100% Mercerized Pima Cotton
• 6 Oz. Skein 470 Yards

This handpainted cotton is available in 27 colorways - some multicolored, some solid. As always, if Rob doesn't have a specific color in stock he will order it for you. Sale ends midday next Wednesday the 23rd.

Fiber of the Week Sale - Debbie Bliss Pure Cotton

Hi, Maureen here with her first contribution. Rob has graciously allowed me to pick the sale yarn of the week and also to announce it.

It's Debbie Bliss Pure Cotton. It's on sale until next Wednesday, July 16, at noon.

It's really HOT here on Cape Ann, so a cotton yarn sounded like a good idea. This is Aran weight, comes in 24 colors, and should be good for baby hats (hint, hint). Coveted Yarn Newborn Hat Contest Ending 6-30-08 results

We ended up with 120 hats for this past quarter, just look at them all! Thanks go to everyone who participated. As a result of the tremendous effort put out by so many I decided to throw in a second $50 gift certificate so we would have 2 winners. It seemed a shame to have such great support and only have one winner. So here they are:
